SSE Green electricity has been independently verified again confirming renewable credentials

SSE Energy Solutions' Green electricity has independent verification from SE Advisory Services, giving customers assurance they can rely on our renewable energy.

The renewable electricity we supply to our customers – matched yearly to generation from our own wind and hydro farms – has been verified and assured by SE Advisory Services, Schneider Electric’s global consulting practice (formerly EcoAct).

This verification covers our SSE Green, SSE Next Generation and SSE Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) products.

We’re proud to have achieved independent verification every year since 2017. This gives our renewable energy customers confidence they can rely on our environmental credentials and meet carbon reporting requirements.

Our renewable electricity is already backed by Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs). This enables customers to report zero market-based Scope 2 emissions for their electricity consumption on our renewable products, in line with the GHG Protocol. Independent verification gives customers extra reassurance and credibility when reporting their electricity emissions.

SE Advisory Services is an international climate consultancy and a CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) Gold Accredited Solutions Provider helping businesses to succeed in their climate ambitions.

As part of a rigorous assurance process, SE Advisory Services assessed the environmental claims of SSE’s renewable electricity products against the GHG Protocol (Greenhouse Gas Protocol) reporting and quality criteria. They analysed our REGO-backed product specifications and evaluated our REGO balance for the Fuel Mix Disclosure period 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025. SE Advisory Services also reviewed and validated our design and operation processes, risk management and data processing for our renewable electricity.

This verification validates the environmental claims attached to our renewable electricity products and reinforces our commitment to renewable energy and our net zero ambitions.

I am delighted to say we have renewed our renewable energy verification, from SE Advisory Services, for the ninth year in a row. This reflects our ongoing commitment to net zero. We recognise energy markets continue to be unpredictable, so we know businesses value the certainty that their electricity spend is another step towards clean, homegrown power.

Director of Sales, SSE Energy Solutions

Our assured renewable electricity products are provided by SSE Renewables, who are working to increase renewable generation capacity from 5GW today. To lead the transition to net zero, the SSE Group are constructing 2.5GW of wind and battery capacity right now, while progressing an 18GW pipeline of development projects. Increasing power generation and storage is set to support thousands more businesses in Britain each year.

But that’s not all. Complementing SSE’s vast renewable and flexible generation assets, we’re also delivering on-site solutions to support businesses in cutting carbon and increasing self-sufficiency. These range from solar generation and energy optimisation, to the infrastructure that’s needed to power data centres and transport.

To help deliver these solutions to boost energy security and sustainability, Tamsin Lishman has joined our team as Director, Customer Asset Portfolio. She brings leadership experience across energy, infrastructure, asset management and customer solutions.

I am delighted to be joining SSE and the Energy Customer Solutions team. SSE Energy Solutions has one of the broadest ranges of solutions in the market and is brilliantly placed to deliver customer needs today and drive innovation to meet customer energy needs of tomorrow. I am excited to get started and support customer delivery as we build out a more robust energy ecosystem that meets everyone's needs.
