SSE’s story began nearly 80 years in the north of Scotland, when engineers brought power to some of the most remote parts of the Highlands. From record-breaking tunnelling works to the creation of more than 50 hydro dams linked by hundreds of kilometres of tunnels and pipelines, the commitment of those early pioneers transformed lives and landscapes.
