homeabout

Climate change won’t wait. Your customers, employees and connections expect businesses today to leave a cleaner world for tomorrow.

Choose green energy and the flexible infrastructure you need to grow in our net zero future. Together we can power change.

Business energy supply example

Business Energy supply

We provide gas and electricity for businesses big and small across the UK, currently supplying around 500,000 metering points. We offer a wide range of fixed-price and flexible energy plans, and all our fixed contracts include 100% renewable electricity as standard.

We’re different because all our renewable electricity is sourced from SSE’s own UK wind and hydro assets. And we’re building more for net zero: we plan to increase our renewable electricity output fivefold to 50TWh by 2030 – enough to supply more than half of all current UK industry.1

Distributed energy infrastructure

We’re helping the UK accelerate to net zero with Whole System Thinking. That means creating a more resilient and sustainable energy system by investing in, building and connecting localised flexible infrastructure to drive the long-term performance of your energy assets.

Our infrastructure and digital services experts are delivering solutions that bring together the diverse needs of all stakeholders into a single unified outcome to maximise both short- and long-term benefits.

Our sustainability goals

Pitlochry Dam

The SSE Group’s vision is to be a leading energy company in a net zero world. Our purpose is to provide the energy needed today while building a better world of energy for tomorrow.

That’s why we’ve set ourselves these four fundamental goals to achieve by 2030:

  • Cut the carbon intensity of the electricity we generate by 80%.
  • Increase our renewable energy output fivefold to 50TWh a year.
  • Enable low-carbon generation and facilitate EVs and heat pumps.
  • Champion a fair and just energy transition.

Partnering to power change at COP26

COP26-UK-Presidency.jpg

In November 2021, countries from across the world met in Glasgow to discuss climate change and how to tackle it. SSE is a principal partner to the UK Government for the prestigious event that will help shape climate policy for decades to come.

As well as supplying the power for the event with 100% renewable energy from our Griffin Wind Farm in Perthshire, we contributed to debates, demonstrated new technology, hosted delegates, and held conferences.

Beyond COP26, SSE Energy Solutions is committed to tackling climate change and supporting our customers on their journey to net zero. Click the link below to find out more about our partnership and what we're doing to keep the legacy of COP26 alive.

  1. Total UK industrial consumption in 2019: 92TWh (Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy). All our renewable electricity is sourced from wind and hydro assets wholly or partly owned by SSE Renewables, our sister company in the SSE Group. With SSE green electricity, you’ll continue to get your electricity through the national grid as normal, and we’ll match your consumption to REGOs from the SSE Group’s generating assets.
