Business Energy supply

We provide gas and electricity for businesses big and small across the UK, currently supplying around 500,000 metering points. We offer a wide range of fixed-price and flexible energy plans, and all our fixed contracts include 100% renewable electricity as standard.

We’re different because all our renewable electricity is sourced from SSE’s own UK wind and hydro assets. And we’re building more for net zero: we plan to treble our renewable electricity output to 30TWh by 2030 – enough to supply almost one-third of all current UK industry.1

The SSE Group’s vision is to be a leading energy company in a net zero world. Our purpose is to provide the energy needed today while building a better world of energy for tomorrow.

That’s why we’ve set ourselves these four fundamental goals to achieve by 2030:

  • Cut the carbon intensity of the electricity we generate by 60%.
  • Treble our renewable energy output to 30TWh a year.
  • Help accommodate 10m electric vehicles in Great Britain.
  • Be the leading company in the UK and Ireland championing Fair Tax and a real Living Wage.

Our company history

SSE can trace its heritage back to the advent of electricity generation in the north of Scotland almost 80 years ago, with its origins in two public sector electricity supply authorities.

  1. Total UK industrial consumption in 2019: 92TWh (Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy). All our renewable electricity is sourced from wind and hydro assets wholly or partly owned by SSE Renewables, our sister company in the SSE Group. With SSE green electricity, you’ll continue to get your electricity through the national grid as normal, and we’ll match your consumption to REGOs from the SSE Group’s generating assets.
