Manchester Museum of Science and Industry

The project aim was to provide the mechanical operation of historic working machines (steam engines). This was achieved using an electric steam boiler to produce the steam that traditionally would have been coal or gas. This then works in tandem with the borehole abstraction system to provide water to the GSHPs in place. The borehole water is used to cool the steam into condensate, the resultant thermal gain on the borehole water is then fed to the GSHP’s as pre heated. Effectively free heat as it is just waste from cooling the steam. Alongside the steam driven machines are electrically driven machines. Utilising inverter driven motors to simulate the mechanical operation that would again have been traditionally coal or gas.

The designer was Max Fordham but this was achieved alongside the mechanical installers (our customer) Murray Building Services and ourselves who have developed the design throughout the project.

Bridgewater Hall

We recently delivered a full BMS upgrade at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, modernising the existing Building Management System to enhance reliability, performance, and energy efficiency across the venue.

The upgrade provides improved monitoring, smarter control strategies, and greater visibility of plant operation, ensuring precise environmental conditions for performers and audiences alike. Alongside enhanced system resilience, the new BMS supports reduced energy consumption, improved reporting capabilities, and long-term sustainability objectives for this flagship cultural venue.

The Printworks

We are currently working with Printworks in Manchester to modernise its Building Management System (BMS), enhancing system reliability, control capability, and overall energy performance across the site. Our programme focuses on upgrading legacy controls, improving plant visibility, and implementing smarter control strategies to optimise heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. The modernised BMS will deliver improved operational efficiency, greater resilience, and enhanced energy reporting to support the venue’s long-term performance and sustainability goals.

Bolton Council

We support Bolton Council with the ongoing management, optimisation, and maintenance of their Building Management Systems (BMS) and wider energy infrastructure across their estate.

Our team provides proactive monitoring, fault diagnostics, system upgrades, and performance optimisation to ensure HVAC plant and critical assets operate efficiently and reliably. Through detailed energy analysis and reporting, we help identify waste, reduce consumption, and lower carbon emissions, ensuring compliance with sustainability targets while delivering measurable cost savings.
